STV Partners with DriveOhio to Develop a Connected Vehicle to Everything (V2X) Deployment Plan

STV today announced it is developing a connected vehicle (CV) deployment plan to support the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) DriveOhio initiative. As part of its scope, STV’s deployment planning services will help create a statewide plan in response to the USDOT’s National V2X Deployment plan.

COLUMBUS, OH — STV’s plan will make recommendations for the deployment strategy of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) and Vehicle to Network (V2N) technologies to facilitate safety, mobility, and traveler information communications between infrastructure, vehicles and motorists traveling along the state’s roadways. The plan will be instrumental in creating smarter roadways in Ohio, which will ultimately mean fewer crashes, more efficient travel and  safer motorists. ODOT’s contract with STV also incorporates work related to stakeholder communications, policy research, and recommendations for funding initiatives.

“DriveOhio is at the forefront for interoperable, standards-compliant, smart mobility technology utilization in the United States and STV is excited to be partnering with ODOT to develop a plan for statewide V2X strategy,” said John Egger, project manager and mobility technology lead at STV. “Together, we’ll be working on projects that benefit Ohio motorists while creating a model for connected vehicle infrastructure for the entire nation.”

ODOT launched DriveOhio in 2018 to organize and accelerate smart vehicle and connected vehicle projects throughout the Buckeye State. DriveOhio is the central hub for smart mobility and offers a single point of contact for policy makers, agencies, researchers and private companies to collaborate with one another to advance smart transportation efforts across the state.

STV is a recognized leader in providing smart mobility solutions and technology integration in support of public infrastructure initiatives across the county. Key projects include autonomous vehicle implementation at Newark Liberty International Airport and for the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority; and electric vehicle piloting at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The firm also partnered with ITS America and the Federal Highway Administration to organize a roadway digital infrastructure webinar series, which provided clients and other stakeholders with resources on emerging mobility technology trends in the United States.
