Kimberly Cornett, PE, CFM, F. ASCE, with LAN is New President of the ASCE – Texas Section

Fort Worth, Texas – Kimberly K. Cornett, PE, CFM, F. ASCE, with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) has been installed as the new President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Texas Section.  Cornett and the other incoming officers and committee chairs took office on September 22, 2023, at the Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) in San Marcos, Texas. 

As the President, Cornett will continue the organization’s emphasis on growth and professional development for its 11,000 state members. Cornett is also interested in sharpening the focus on K-12 STEM education and community involvement.   

Cornett has been a member of ASCE for 25 years.  Before being elected President of the ASCE Texas Section for the 2023-2024 term, she held various leadership roles at the local and state levels. Just before Cornett’s swearing-in ceremony, she was presented with the 2023 President’s Special Recognition Award for her service and dedication to the ASCE Texas Section. Cornett was previously honored with the group’s Professional Service Award.  

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Cornett has extensive experience managing stormwater projects and supports infrastructure projects in North Texas for LAN. Cornett’s expertise is an integral part of the LAN team that manages stormwater and reduces flood risk for communities. She is involved in projects for LAN at all levels – from initial planning and feasibility studies to managing engineering and construction.  

LAN Vice President Justin Reeves says, “Kimberly’s knowledge and experience are tremendous assets to us and certainly to ASCE. She clearly has a passion for serving the engineering profession as a whole, and her leadership inspires both new and seasoned engineers. We are certainly proud of her, and she continues to have our full support in this role – we are confident that as President of ASCE-Texas, she will do an incredible job.”  

A member of the Texas Floodplain Management Association, Cornett has a master’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration in Water Resources from the University of Texas at San Antonio. A Professional Engineer, Cornett is licensed in Texas.
