Leica Geosystems has introduced the new Leica CS30 tablet, a rugged all-round field controller designed for surveyors. The 7-inch sunlight-readable multi-touch screen is a convenient size to use with graphics and imaging sensors but lightweight enough to use all day long with all sensors. The advanced LCD IPS screen provides optimal color clarity as well as an increased viewing angle. An ambient light sensor provides improved visibility in all lighting conditions. LAND & WATER STARTS FINAL PHASE OF WORKS AT PEAK FOREST CANAL

Leading wet civil engineering specialist, Land & Water, has started its final phase of dredging works at Peak Forest Canal in Manchester on behalf of the Canal & River Trust. The works which started in September 2020, and are due to finish this month, has seen Land & Water dredge 14,000 tonnes of material, the equivalent of 3,111 Indian elephants, from Whaley Bridge up to Portland Basin. The material has been disposed of via Augean’s Waste Facility with various off-load locations along the canal. The works are to improve the efficiency of the Canal for boaters, safeguarding it for years to come as it boasts two Scheduled Ancient Monuments, the historic three-arch Marple Aqueduct and Bugsworth Basin, in its 15 mile length. The addition of a battery powered electric bolter to the wide portfolio of underground mining machines produced by the company was a natural progression following current trends in mining, related to the broader use of clean technologies. “With new developments we work closely with KGHM, one of world’s biggest copper producers, the design of the electric machine was a response to the needs of this customer”, says Jerzy Nadolny, Mine Master CEO. “The mines are going deeper, so the cost of ventilation is increasing with every metre.
