Wold Architects & Engineers Celebrates Completion of New Mayo Clinic Store in Red Wing

Longstanding partnership continues to improve patient care from the clinical environment to care at home

Red Wing, Minn. — Wold Architects & Engineers, a full-service planning, architecture and engineering firm specializing in healthcare, senior living, education and government design, is celebrating the completion of the new Mayo Clinic Store in Red Wing, Minnesota, the latest milestone in a longstanding relationship with Mayo Clinic Health System–one focused on improving patient care through thoughtfully designed healthcare environments.

The Red Wing Mayo Clinic Store extends this patient-centered approach beyond the walls of the hospital. Expanded retail space, a broader product selection and an improved customer experience help patients transition more easily from hospital to home. Designed for people recovering from surgery, managing chronic conditions or seeking everyday health solutions, the store provides convenient access to resources that support successful recovery and independent living. Home medical equipment, post-surgical supplies, durable medical equipment, respiratory equipment and wound care products that support recovery and healthier living are available to patients and community members alike.

“Our work with Mayo Clinic Health System has always been rooted in creating spaces that improve experiences for patients, families and caregivers while supporting evolving models of care,” said Rachel Hendrickson, healthcare practice leader at Wold. “Whether we’re designing highly specialized clinical environments or a retail setting that helps patients continue their care at home, every project begins with listening, collaboration and a shared commitment to improving the patient experience. Working closely with the Mayo team has given us a deep understanding of their operational goals, their caregivers’ needs and, most importantly, what creates a better experience for patients. That knowledge allows each new project to build on the success of the last.”

Over the years, Wold has partnered with Mayo Clinic Health System on projects across multiple campuses and care settings, helping the organization adapt existing facilities and prepare for future growth. Recent collaborations include the Charter House senior care facility renovation, the Red Wing Hospital Birthing Center, laboratory, inpatient and clinical renovations and imaging upgrades at multiple facilities.

The completion of the Red Wing Mayo Clinic Store underscores Wold’s continued commitment to designing healthcare environments that support the full continuum of care, from advanced clinical spaces to the places where patients begin and continue their healing journeys. The store is now open at  3243 S. Service Drive, Red Wing, MN 55066.
