NYSDOT Selects STV for Central New York Forward Infrastructure Program
NEW YORK, NY – STV today announced it has been selected to provide project management oversight (PMO) for the New York State Department of Transportation’s (NYSDOT) Central New York Forward, a multi-year transportation program supporting major economic growth in Onondaga County.
As the PMO, STV will guide the delivery of roadway and highway improvements by managing the scope and schedule for conceptual engineering alternatives and overseeing the environmental review process for NYSDOT.
These improvements will help Central New York prepare for significant economic development, including Micron’s planned 1,400-acre semiconductor fabrication campus in Clay, Onondaga County, which is expected to create 9,000 direct jobs across the region. Micron’s development will include four semiconductor fabrication buildings as well as supporting infrastructure such as warehouses, parking, utilities and centers for childcare, healthcare and recreation. Construction is expected to occur in phases through 2041.
“Micron’s $100-billion investment will reshape how people move through Central New York,” said George Tawfik, senior project manager at STV. “Our role is to help NYSDOT plan transportation infrastructure and utility upgrades that can support decades of growth while keeping our communities moving safely and efficiently.”
The broader Central New York Forward program will address current and future transportation needs in Cicero and Clay as the Micron campus, Lakeshore Village and the Great Northern Mall redevelopment advance. As part of the environmental review, the environmental impact statement (EIS) will evaluate potential environmental effects associated with proposed transportation improvements.
