Synergi Engineers and Fabricates Custom Curved Stair for Coinbase’s New York Office at One Madison 

Award-winning firm engineers and installs a centerpiece for the 67,000-square-foot office, featuring curved glass guardrails, helical wood handrails, and precision-crafted metalwork. 

NEW YORK, NY — Synergi, an award-winning international team of engineers, fabricators, and installers of turnkey architectural stairs, announced the completion of its work on Coinbase’s 67,000-square-foot New York office at One Madison. Serving as the heart of the new office layout is a curved feature stair that connects the primary workplace levels—merging high-performance engineering with the refined aesthetic of one of the world’s leading technology companies. 

Coinbase, a global leader in digital asset infrastructure, sought a workplace that reflects its culture of innovation, transparency, and forward-focused design. The renovated multi-floor office supports seamless movement and collaboration, with the new feature stair acting as a connective element that unifies the space and strengthens the flow between teams. 

Working alongside Studios Architecture and construction manager JRM, Synergi delivered a curved feature stair that serves as both a sculptural focal point and a key structural connector within the renovated office. The stair incorporates curved glass guardrails, white oak treads and risers transitioning seamlessly into terrazzo flooring, a custom wood handrail, and a precision-fabricated painted metal stringer. Executed inside an active existing building, the installation required meticulous coordination to integrate the stair’s complex geometry while meeting Coinbase’s refined design and performance standards.

When the handrail shifted from steel to a fully helical wood profile mid-fabrication, our teams adapted quickly—re-engineering and coordinating every detail without affecting schedule or quality. It’s a reflection of the precision, trust, and craftsmanship our partners count on.” 

Serving as the project’s engineering-assist and fabrication partner, Synergi’s in-house engineering and detailing teams modeled the stair’s curved geometry in 3D—aligning the glass, PRESS RELEASE 

wood, and metal components before fabrication began. To support the project’s expedited schedule, Synergi developed a custom fixture to verify that the stringer shoe curvature precisely matched the curved glass, allowing the team to identify and resolve any tolerances during fabrication rather than onsite. Working within an active existing building added further complexity, requiring close coordination with JRM and Studios to ensure the stair’s structure and finishes integrated seamlessly into the surrounding workplace.
