MECO Engineering Company, Inc. and Heneghan and Associates, Inc. Announce Strategic Merger, Expanding Civil Engineering and Land Surveying Capabilities in Missouri and Illinois

HANNIBAL, Mo. — MECO Engineering Company, Inc. and Heneghan and Associates, Inc., two established civil engineering and land surveying firms with deep roots in Missouri and Illinois, announced today that they have completed a strategic merger effective Dec. 31, 2025. The combined firm will operate under the name MECO Heneghan, Inc.

The merger brings together two firms with 40-year legacies and complementary expertise in civil engineering, land surveying and architecture. MECO Heneghan Inc. provides services in water resources, municipal infrastructure, land development, transportation engineering, structural engineering, boundary surveying, geospatial services, MEP design, and architectural and landscape architecture. The firm will continue to serve public- and private-sector clients across the region, with a focus on quality engineering, responsive service and long-term client relationships.

“Our firms share similar values, including a dedication to quality, integrity and maintaining client trust,” said Lindsey Bowlin, president of MECO Heneghan, Inc. “That alignment gives me confidence that we are creating the right future – for our clients, our employees and the communities we serve. Expanding our services on the foundation built over 40 years positions our people for long-term stability.”

Kevin Garnett, chief operating officer of MECO Heneghan, Inc., added, “We are excited to bring together two highly respected firms with complementary strengths. MECO Heneghan, Inc. strengthens our technical depth and enhances our ability to serve small communities with care and responsiveness. Together, we are delivering greater value to our clients, creating new opportunities for our people, and continuing our stewardship of local infrastructure.”

For clients, the merger provides expanded service offerings and technical depth, increased project capacity and geographic reach, continuity of existing project teams and relationships, and no disruption to current contracts or points of contact.

“Madrid Amalgamated Group is excited to assist in the merger of MECO and Heneghan,” added Steve Tarte, board member of MECO Heneghan, Inc. “The firms have partnered since 2017 on a $200 million USDA Rural Development project, demonstrating strong alignment in culture and execution. This merger is a natural next step and expands MAG’s presence in the Midwest. I am confident the firm is well positioned for continued growth.”

The combined firm employs approximately 80 professionals, including licensed professional engineers, licensed professional land surveyors and technical staff, with offices in Arnold, Boonville, Hannibal, Jefferson City, Kirksville, and St. Louis, Missouri, as well as Columbia, Jerseyville, Maryville, Mount Vernon and Pittsfield, Illinois.

Day-to-day operations will continue without interruption, and all current employees of both firms have been retained as part of the merger.
