WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) today announced the immediate availability of $3 million in “quick release” Emergency Relief (ER) funds for use as a down payment by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to offset costs of repair work on a section of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia that collapsed as the result of a gasoline tanker truck fire. Schunnemunk State Park has a new pedestrian trail bridge, thanks to a collaboration between the Open Space Institute (OSI), the U. S. Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC). This project marks the sixth year that OSI has worked with the USMA cadets to design and construct a trail bridge at a New York State Park.
