Anglian Water expands transformative AI technology trial

صورة
Following the successful pilot of its digital asset management technology with Anglian Water, Norwegian digital analytics company, InfoTiles, is embarking on an expanded proof of concept programme. The on-going collaboration with the UK utility will use its artificial intelligence (AI) driven software to manage roughly 317 biofilters, along with pumps and valves, and will be extended from 24 sites to 100. The continued partnership establishes the ambition that Anglian Water will be able to move towards fully integrating the InfoTiles technology to enhance day-to-day operational visibility. As the proof-of-concept programme continues to prove the benefits of the solution, full integration will create better-informed asset management decision-making and allow for further understanding of maintenance prioritisation of water recycling assets. Approximately 483 data points will be measured across all assets included in the scale-up. The water recycling centres will be chosen based on cu

Stantec Institute surveys utilities to understand cost impacts of PFAS

A study was conducted with members of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies to identify current challenges and concerns around biosolids management WASHINGTON, DC —   TSX, NYSE:STN Water utilities across the US are working hard to address the challenges and financial implications of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). To provide additional guidance, Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, is sharing the results of the PFAS Cost Study, which the firm conducted for the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). The study was led by researchers from the  Stantec Institute for Applied Science, Technology, and Policy . The study surveyed NACWA’s member utilities to better understand the cost impacts of PFAS on biosolids management in the US. NACWA previously published a study on this topic in 2020. The new study provides updates to those findings in addition to identifying additional impacts and concerns around PFAS. “As passive rece

Crafting a Blueprint for Safety: The Significance of Traffic Control Plans

صورة
By Greg Ryan Traffic Control Plans are an integral part of civil and structural engineering projects, impacting safety, efficiency, and success. These comprehensive blueprints provide a structured framework for managing vehicular and pedestrian traffic in and around construction sites, roadwork zones, and various infrastructure projects. By clearly defining the flow of traffic and designating safe zones for pedestrians and vehicles, these plans reduce the chances of collisions and ensure that construction workers and the general public can coexist safely. They provide guidelines for the use of signage, barriers, and other safety measures, helping to prevent accidents that could result in costly project delays, litigation, or worse. Why a Traffic Control Plan Matters The importance of a Traffic Control Plan cannot be overstated. To understand its significance, we must first consider that it’s not merely a piece of paper; it’s a comprehensive strategy that can make or break a project

The past few years have had a lot to teach us about winning the war for talent. By Jeremy Clarke , Director of Executive Search and Recruiting, Zweig Group Some remarkable shifts in recruiting and retention have transpired over the last year, all traceable to the acute rise in talent demand on the heels of a continued breakout economy. In unprecedented fashion, the AEC industry witnessed rapidly evolving job market conditions, industry trends, and technological advancements. These sharp shifts have brought about a sudden and significant talent shortage felt industry-wide, necessitating nimble responses from recruiting and HR leaders to attract and retain the talent their firms need to thrive. And there’s no immediate reprieve on the horizon. The fierce demand for talent continues to fuel augmented (sometimes inordinate) compensation expectations, multiple job offers from competitors, and retention tactics on an ever evolving scale. As we examine these trends, we can’t help but ask s
