Santa Clara, CA and Kyoto, Japan, July 06, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —  ROHM Semiconductor  today announced a new RGB chip LED ( SMLVN6RGBFU ) ideal for automotive interiors, such as function and status indicators in instrument clusters, CID (Center Information Displays) and accent lighting for footwells and door handles. In recent years, more driver assistance functions (i.e., automatic speed control, vehicle distance/white line detection) have been introduced as vehicles become progressively electronic and sophisticated. As such, the demand for RGB chip LEDs capable of expressing a range of colors to indicate operational status in instrument panels and meter clusters is rising. New ASCE PublicationOptimizes Design of Single-Span Trusses

Reston, Va.  – Early estimates for structural quantities are important for truss design, as that can help engineers optimize before design begins. A new technical report from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE),  Efficient Design of Spanning Trusses: Charts and Tools , will help engineers select the most efficient designs for single-span structural steel trusses, as well as discusses the optimization procedures that could be applied to other structures. Design charts and tools are provided with the supplemental materials to assist engineers in making an informative initial selection of a truss and to enable further research. Topics include optimal distribution of material within a structure, satisfying strength criteria during the optimization process, unitless design parameters for spanning trusses, vibration serviceability considerations in a truss selection, and design assumptions and truss types considered in provided design charts. New I-17 drainage system in place at cross-street underpasses in north Phoenix

A new I-17 regional drainage system designed to reduce the risk of stormwater flooding in underpasses between Peoria Avenue and Greenway Road in Phoenix is ready to operate in time for this summer’s monsoon. The Arizona Department of Transportation managed construction of the $38 million drainage system on behalf of the Maricopa Association of Governments, the Valley’s metropolitan planning organization. Crews installed new pipelines for the gravity controlled system and built large stormwater retention basins near Thunderbird Road. The new system also allowed ADOT to remove outdated pump stations, installed back in 1964, near lower-lying underpasses carrying Peoria Avenue and Cactus, Thunderbird and Greenway roads beneath I-17. Those underpasses have been subject to flooding during periods of heavy rain, and the new drainage system is designed to limit such events.  Primary work on the new system started in spring 2020. Construction involved extensive trench work as well as tunneli
