Common Ground Alliance Releases Newest Edition of Best Practices Guide

The Best Practices Guide 18.0 provides guidance for damage prevention safety and includes new practices that reflect advancements in technology   WASHINGTON  –  Common Ground Alliance (CGA) , the national nonprofit trade association dedicated to protecting underground utility lines, people who dig near them and their communities, today released the  Best Practices Guide 18.0 , the newest edition of the preeminent resource in underground damage prevention. Since the establishment of CGA in 2001, the Best Practices have been regarded as the trusted guide to protect vital underground infrastructure and improve safety during excavation activities conducted in the vicinity of existing underground facilities. The Best Practices Guide includes over 160 Best Practices established by a consensus of CGA’s 16 stakeholder groups that provide damage prevention recommendations based on practices currently being utilized, categorized by six key industry areas to provide guidance along the entire sa

New drilling rig for HPI drilling applications: KLEMM KR 720

صورة
Klemm Bohrtechnik presents newly developed drilling rig High Pressure Injection drilling (HPI) in special foundation engineering requires the use of especially designed drill rigs to carry out tasks such as sealing dams; drilling deep foundations for buildings; and underpinning foundation supports. HPI drilling was the main point of focus when KLEMM Bohrtechnik developed the KR 720 – a drill rig which is particularly suited for drilling vertical, comparatively large drill depths of up to 25 m in a single pass. This rig offers a wide spectrum of applications including compaction grouting for improving the load bearing capacity of the ground, and rock grouting for filling fissures, cracks, and cavities. The KR 720 can also be configured to carry out tasks such as water extraction, deep hole hammer micro-piling (DTH) or continuous flight auger drilling. The parallel kinematics of the boom and the 2-fold backstay cylinder kinematics are optimal for carrying out such operations.  Not onl

3D Printing Composites Will be a $2 billion Industry Within the Next Decade, Says IDTechEx

صورة
3D printing of fiber-reinforced polymers is rapidly approaching a commercial tipping point. This is quickly becoming one of the most exciting and impactful areas of 3D printing; over the next decade the market will grow to $2 billion, the installed base and applications will expand, and technology will continue to mature. This growth will not be without challenges; there are barriers to adoption to be overcome in multiple sectors, supply chains & digital infrastructures to be established, and an inevitable consolidation in the number of manufacturers. The reason for the interest in this sector is easily apparent. 3D printing of polymer materials can have mechanical limitations that benefit from fiber reinforcement (or other functionalities), and composite manufacturing is known to be costly, and challenging this can benefit from the moldless, rapid prototyping, and automated approach that additive manufacturing enables. In their latest market report “ 3D Printing Composites 2021-

SPH Engineering announces the update of UgCS for UAV-based LIDAR mapping

صورة
Riga, Latvia – SPH Engineering announces the release of UgCS update, introducing LIDAR toolset to unlock the full potential of LIDARs making remote sensing most effective with no human errors. Key features include precise calibration, flight patterns for route planning, anti-shake turns, and constant line spacing and buffer. UgCS LIDAR toolset allows to optimize time and cost-effectiveness at all stages of data collection and processing. At the flight planning stage time could be saved on mission planning with flight patterns and turns designed specifically for LIDAR surveys. At the flight stage one may acquire high-quality laser data with preset IMU initialization patterns and anti-shake LIDAR turns. During post-flight data analysis, the high accuracy of acquired data ensures getting desired results with one trip to the field and better data analysis. ‘We have received various requests from LIDAR producers and end-users to improve the accuracy of laser data collected with a UAV. We

Water is Life: Protecting Water Resources and Infrastructure With Purpose-Built Cloud Technology

صورة
By  Colby Manwaring Water is life. This is a statement of fact—and a daily reminder of the responsibility our team at  Innovyze , now an Autodesk company, has carried with us each day for thirty-five years. Therefore, we innovate, relentlessly, to ensure we provide the best technology to support our customers and the billions of people who depend on them to thrive worldwide. The technology we develop is purpose-built and helps our customers provide clean drinking water, treat wastewater, and enable cities and municipalities to monitor and manage their systems—to identify challenges before they become crises. Downtime is not an option considering how critical water is to life. Info360: Managing water from cloud to sea Managing the safe use of water from cloud to sea was at one time a figurative way of explaining what Innovyze technology does. This became the literal reflection of our work when we introduced, a modern Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud platform for water utilities. A
