Reston, Va.  – ASCE’s newest standard,  Guidelines for the Physical Security of Water and Wastewater/Stormwater Utilities,  ASCE/EWRI 78-24, provides guidelines on the evaluation and enhancement of physical security of facilities used in potable water sources, treatment, and distribution systems, as well as for wastewater and stormwater facilities. It provides a complete approach to integrate modern security practices into the management, operation, construction, or retrofit of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. PERI 3D Construction Custom Prints Nation’s Largest 3D Printed Home

صورة
Making an Imprint in Houston, Texas 3D printed construction continues to have a measurable impact on the industry because of its ability to reduce costs and increase efficiency.  The latest example is in Spring Branch, Texas, now the home of the first multi-story 3D printed house in the United States.  PERI 3D Construction worked collaboratively with HANNAH , an architectural-based design firm; and CIVE , a construction engineering company, on the groundbreaking project, which integrated the cement formation into wood framing. The allowlist

By Katelyn Dover This cybersecurity strategy ensures you’ll never miss important emails. The digital dance of email is a choreography we’re all trying to get the groove of. Email regulations and sender guidelines have drastically changed over the last few years, and with the growing adoption of artificial intelligence, getting what you need, and nothing you don’t is a bit overwhelming. Amidst the clutter lies a simple solution that ensures you never miss important emails. Enter allowlisting – the ultimate inbox ally for all. Allowlisting is a cybersecurity strategy that works the same as blocking or reporting spam, but the opposite. You’re “allowing” specific senders to reach you, and only those. Moreover, the approved senders list streamlines email management. By cataloging trusted senders, emails from these sources sidestep spam filters, empowering recipients to discern their legitimacy. Here are the simple allowlisting steps to improve your email receivability by platform:   F

Automation and data synchronization light the way to tunnel success  By Mary Jo Wagner As a tunnel surveyor with Eiffage, a French civil engineering construction company, Christophe Poloni knows a thing or two about uncertainty.  “I’ve worked on many underground projects and the one thing they have all had in common is the uncertainty of not knowing what we would find,” says Poloni. “We plan and prepare as best we can but the unpredictable nature of geology can surprise us at any moment. So tunnel construction requires versatility, agility, efficiency and accuracy.” Since late 2022, Poloni has needed all four of those attributes to successfully navigate the dark, dirty and cramped quarters of the Bjønnås Tunnel (Bjønnås) in Eastern Norway. One of seven tunnels being built for the 17.5-km, E18 four-lane motorway that will connect the towns of Langangen and Rugtvedt, the Bjønnås is a 2.5-km twin-tube tunnel that will have 10, 15-m-long cross passages and three technical buildings, ea

Building True Service Partnerships

Fabric building companies offer several services to help ensure successful facility projects. By Eric Donnay, Legacy Building Solutions Decades ago, acquiring a tension fabric structure didn’t require much of a process. Most manufacturers offered fabric structures with predetermined dimensions, and building users essentially chose the standard size offering from the menu that came the closest to fitting their needs. It was simple, it was cheap, and it was fast— but it did not always yield an optimal result for the facility. In some corners of the fabric structure industry, this type of situation still occurs. In others, leading manufacturers have exponentially stepped up their games. Today, users can procure a tension fabric building where every detail is developed with optimal utilization in mind. More importantly, the modern approach to supplying a fabric building is no longer a mere transaction—it comes with a full array of services to assist the customer during every step of the

Revolutionizing Concrete Production: The Sustainable Future of Carbon Locked™ Precast Concrete

صورة
by Locke Solutions The concrete industry, a fundamental pillar of modern construction, is confronting a critical challenge in the face of heightened environmental awareness—how to minimize its carbon footprint. With sustainability becoming a global priority, the quest for eco-friendly alternatives in construction has never been more crucial. The Portland Cement Association has raised a red flag, revealing that the manufacturing of a cubic yard of concrete, approximately 3900 lbs, contributes to a staggering emission of about 400 lbs of CO2. Cement, a key component of concrete, is the primary culprit, generating approximately 0.9 pounds of CO2 emissions for every pound of cement produced.  Amid this sustainability imperative, Carbon Locked Precast Concrete has emerged as a potential game-changer. This innovative process promises a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of precast concrete, representing a transformative shift towards greener construction practices. Carbon Locke

صورة
LYDNEY, United Kingdom – Acrow, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, announced today one of its Mabey Delta structures has been installed in South Lanarkshire, Scotland to replace the ageing Clyde River Bridge. Built in 1912, the Clyde River Bridge was an early example of reinforced concrete bridge construction in Scotland. The contract to construct the replacement bridge was awarded by South Lanarkshire Council to Eric Wright Civil Engineering in November 2022. Eric Wright Civil Engineering then appointed Acrow Global Limited (trading as Mabey Bridge) to manufacture and install the steel superstructure, which is a 90-metre single span Mabey Delta bridge with a 4.2-metre-wide carriageway and an additional intern
